How To: Deep Clean Make Up Brushes

Ok, so I’ll be the first to admit I don't clean my make up brushes as often as I should.

Using make up brushes on a daily basis not only causes product build-up, but also causes bacteria to get trapped in the bristles and be spread across your face on each use (Yuk!!) which will cause a breakout.

So to keep both your skin and brushes in top condition give foundation and concealer brushes a deep clean once a week, eye brushes twice a month and all other brushes once a month.

1. Run brush under lukewarm water.
2. Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and add a drop of baby shampoo.

3. Swirl brush tips around in the mixture.

4. Rinse brush under cold water and squeeze out residue. (Be careful of running the water over the base of the bush as overtime this can cause the glue that holds the brush together to breakdown and cause shedding!)

5. Repeat as necessary until the water runs clear.

6. Use a clean cloth to wipe and reshape brush and then leave to dry.

How often do you deep clean your brushes?
